چکیده
Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) refers to a procedure in which hematopoietic stem cells are infused to restore bone marrow function in cancer patients who receive bone-marrowtoxic doses of cytotoxic drugs with or without whole body radiation therapy. Bone marrow stem cells may be obtained from the transplant recipient (autologous HSCT) or from a donor (allogeneic HSCT). They can be harvested from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood and placenta shortly after delivery of neonates. Although cord blood is an allogeneic source, the stem cells in it are antigenically “naïve” and thus are associated with a lower incidence of rejection or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Cord blood is discussed in greater detail in policy No. 7.01.50.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
The evidence for HSCT in individuals who have advanced-stage epithelial ovarian cancer includes 3 randomized trials and data from case series and registries. Relevant outcomes are overall survival, disease-specific survival, change in disease status, and treatment related morbidity and mortality. The evidence has not shown an improvement in health outcomes, including survival, with the use of H...

Background: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is one of the most lethal gynecological malignancy worldwide. Although the majority of EOC patients achieve clinical remission after induction therapy, over 80% relapse and succumb to the chemoresistant disease. Previous investigations have demonstrated the association of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) with resistance to cytotoxic chemotherap...
متن کاملFeasibility of high-dose iodine-131-metaiodobenzylguanidine therapy for high-risk neuroblastoma preceding myeloablative chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: a study protocol
Objective(s): High-risk neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer with poorprognosis despite modern multimodality therapy. Internal radiotherapy using131I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) is effective for treating the disease even if it isresistant to chemotherapy. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacyof 131I-MIBG radiotherapy combined with myeloablative high-dose chemotherapyand...
